Hoping to provide some small comfort to you on this sad day...
"Suppose you are impressed with a particular cloud in the sky. When it is time for that cloud to become the rain you won't see that cloud anymore and you will cry. But if you know that the cloud has been transformed into the rain and the rain is calling you, "Darling, I am here, I'm here," if you have that kind of capacity of recognizing the continuation of that manifestation, you don't have to live in despair and grief." -Thich Nhat Hanh
I liked your mom. She was nice. We only talked a few times but she was in every way a "mom". I will miss her. I am so sorry. I wish there was something I could have done to help.
Blessings Christie, I hope you are able to grieve in your own way and as the pain and loss subside the beautiful memories you hold for your mom will light your heart and bring you comfort.
I hope you have the time and the space to grieve and grieve well. Your mother passed peacefully with a fierce advocate by her side and I can only hope that when it is my time I will have lived and loved and been as loved as your mom. Peace.
Christie, I am so sorry you were robbed of more years with your mom, she was way too young to die. Please take care of yourself and let the dogs work their magic and comfort you...

I remember a character from the movie Terms of Endearment saying that somehow she thought she would feel better when her daughter had finally given up the fight with cancer and passed on. She didn't of course. No more suffering, but she was not there anymore either.
Take care of yourself, get some rest, treat yourself gently.
I'm so sorry, Christie. You're in my thoughts.
