This is the first morning in two months that I haven't gone to the PetConnection blog before I even had my morning coffee.
I'd say this is a sign that the pet food recall story might finally be winding down, but I think it's more just that I'm burning out. So consider this just a stupid meaningless venting of excess insanity that will allow me to continue functioning for one more day.
What really annoys me is people sending me links to stories and information about the recall with a breathless "Did you know???", when it's something I've been writing and in some cases, ranting, about for weeks now. I've had people send me links to stories that I WROTE:
Them: "Did you see this article on pet food?"
Me: "Er, kind of. Did you notice who wrote it?"
I know this is irrational. I realize that Gina and I are completely consumed with this story, and to most people, there really are other things going on. The whole ever-shifting kaleidoscope of life and all that - marriages and divorces, births and deaths, political debates, the war in Iraq, even things like dog shows, shoe shopping, and the announcement of the new fall TV schedule.
And I just go, but what does that have to do with the pet food recall?
Sigh. It's a good thing that Xenafest is coming up in a few weeks -- I don't think you can be snapped out of this without physical presence ;)

You just go: "but what does that have to do with the pet food recall"?
And I just go:
"But what does that have to do with me getting a puppy."
I'm back to paying better attention; grin.

I've had that happen to me, too: People sending me articles *I* wrote to help inform me.
Guess folks don't read bylines.
