It's time for the Friday iPod Challenge, but this week I'm going to restrict my shuffle to my "Just Embarrassing" playlist because I'm tired of sitting here chewing my nails worrying that "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" is going to come up and I decided just to get it over with in one big orgy of humiliation.
This listing reflects songs I find corny, stupid, idiotic, ridiculous, over-produced, schmaltzy, or otherwise just freaking humiliating that I like. And yet I do.
You can play by the usual rules - totally random selection using any MP3 player or software such as iTunes, shuffle your entire music collection and post the first ten songs that come up - or you, too, can list only songs that embarrass you.
Commentary is optional but I love it! As always, stolen from Roxanne, who is doing a YouTube version with an Andy Warhol theme this week, and stolen by JeffB, where you can post your list and maybe win an iPod! So go there next.
Here is my Friday iPod Challenge, Most Embarrassing Musical Moments Edition:
- Don't You Want Me - The Human League. I never liked this in the 80s when it first came out, but I love it now. No idea why. I'm just sick.
- Gold - Spandau Ballet. "Always believe in your soul."
- Dancing Queen - ABBA. Do you even have to ask? This is probably on everyone's list of guilty pleasures.
- Stayin' Alive - The Bee Gees. I LOVE IT. I have no idea why!
- Careless Whisper - George Michael. *is big sucker for George Michael*
- I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor. Probably not embarrassing. I love it so much.
- Leather and Lace - Stevie Nicks & Don Henley. This is some kind of weird lesbian thing, I think.
- The Highwayman - Stevie Nicks. *is big sucker for Stevie Nicks*
- True - Spandau Ballet. No excuse. Just lame pop from the 80s.
- I've Never Been to Me - Charlene. Might be the single most embarrassing thing on here. Drag queen song from Priscilla: Queen of the Desert soundtrack. Just awful and I love it. I sing along with it in the car.
Your turn!
1-Rock the Boat-Hues Corporation
"Our love is like a ship on the ocean, we've been sailing with a cargo full of love and devotion
Rock the boat-go on with your bad self". (lol - go on with your bad self...one of my favorite lines ever of all time!)
2-Disco Inferno Travares Love it!
3-Crazy - Aerosmith as pop as they get, but I sing it at the top of my lungs
4-Boogie Nights - Heatwave Canadian disco, what can I say
5-Don't you want me baby -Human League a guilty pleasure
6-Thong Song - Sisqo
7-Cool Jerk the go-go's
8-Start of Something New from The High School Musical movie on the Disney Channel that I have seen more times than I care to own up to. My girls LOVE it, and I have to admit it grew on me.
9-Tainted Love- Soft Cell- Not sure this even belongs on this list
10-Rock N roll Band Boston

1. Ol'Red - Blake Shelton
2. Kiss from A Rose - Seal
3. I'll Make Love to You - Boyz II Men
4. Let the River Run - Carly Simon
5. The Lady In Red - Chris Burke
6. She - Elvis Costello
7. Un-break My Heart - Toni Braxton
8. If I had Any Pride Left At All - John Berry
9. Little Child - Lucy Lawless
10. Silent Night, Holy Night - Mahalia Jackson
I will defend my number 10 ... she was without a doubt the best gospel singer ever and that is a perfect vehicle for her! So there ;) The rest ... well, there really isn't anything that I can say for myself.

Well, you know me, no iPod, no desire to list all the things that play at random on my computer. But I had to laugh at your mention of I Will Survive. I "cannot" listen to that without thinking of Alien Song and seeing the one-eye green alien get clobbered by the glittering disco ball at precisely the moment she belts out the song title.
Nor am I embarrassed at all that I love Alien Song.
