"The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm." (I Timothy 1:5-7)
Don't faint; you'd be amazed at how many bible quotes I like. And while in general I'm against proof texting, I do enjoy these little admonitions that seem to apply so well to certain fundamentalist Christians who are very ready to tell me what is wrong in my spiritual life, and why my politics will send me to hell, but forget the foundational law of Christianity is love.
