I hate getting new electronics. Hate hate hate. I hate getting a new computer more than anything on earth.
And I'm getting one on Thursday, because I have to. Because my existing computer is running Win 2K and can't see my USB interface anymore and, well... it's time.
And I'm upset and worried and full of dread, because I'm sure I have ten million little programs that I'll never replace, and even though my data is being transferred for me, I know that the forty bazillion auto-fills and stored passwords will mostly vanish, and OH GOD my FTP access info to the seventy bazillion FTP sites on the web I have to access, god... I feel like crying.
This, my darlings, is why I drive a ten year old car and won't get a flat screen TV and even when I'm given a new digital camera I don't use it and only got my first DVD player in November of 2005: There are types of change I hate, and new electronic stuff is the biggest one of all.
I don't even like to get a new coffee maker.

RUN don't walk - to your nearest Apple store and get a mac! Then talk to the guys at the genius bar and they will help you get your stuff moved over. Unlike the windoz guys who will ask is it oem don't talk to us - and when you call you pc tech support they will say Huh?!? - reinstall windoz for every issue including hardware stuff. Can you tell I been there dun that!??

Nope, did you miss the part where "I hate change"? I am not getting a Mac under any circumstances. I don't even like going from one version of Windows to another, believe me, I have no intention of making that learning curve even sharper, LOL.
I hate change. Did I mention that?
I have a great computer guy who is going to do the switch for me. The problem is that I still have to use the new stuff. Getting a Mac won't fix that, it'll only make it a thousand million times worse.
I wasn't complaining about problems with my Windows machine, I was complaining about CHANGE.

Pfft. Change is good. As evidence, I give you St Paul, MN, kthx.
It's a shiny new computer! Embrace the shiny!!

Oh, Red, Red, Red, Red, Red, Red, Red.

You are so wasting your typing fingers.
She really hates change, I mean REALLY hates change, and especially ELECTRONIC change.

you have to think about the future - with a pc - you get yucky change whether you want it or not because ms won't support your old favorite windoz 3.1, 95 or 98. Soon it will be Vista or die. macs work the same way as your pc (actually easier and more intuitive) and the support system is so much better. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet now to have a better future :-)

I will never use Vista and I'll never use a Mac. :)

Oh, and by the way -- every publication I've ever worked at used Macs. I use them constantly. I know those who have drunk the Koolaid find this impossible to believe, but they really aren't the answer to every ill of the modern world. ;)
