Lucy came onstage and joked around, then asked how many were there last night. Huge cheers. Thanked everyone for making it a wonderful experience.
"We don't want to wring any of the spontaneity out of it, but there's a few thing they need to fix."
Told story about threatening sound guy with 500 angry Xena fans. "That's worse than being threatened by one angry Xena, because Xena has one ounce of compassion."
Fangirl: Seems like your concert made CNN Headline News.
Big cheers.
She said, don't get angry when the mainstream starts to pick up on it. "I know who my friends are." Huge cheer.
Then she added, "Semper fi."
Said that after her Celebrity Duets she was really inspired to do a show. She said people have wanted her to do it before, but she didn't have the confidence, but after Duets she just couldn't get enough. Said it was something she had always dreamed of doing.
Song choices.... she wanted to do a show with Jai or Alphonso from Duets, but she decided to keep it small, just her and her fans. The songs were about her, and her relationship with the fans, and the relationships in the cyber community. Everything had to be germane to that.
Someone really wanted her to do "Heartbreak," but she said she hated it. That songs is not about me and my fans. You don't understand what this relationship is.
"I just didn't feel like that song had anything to do with us. Moaning about somebody breaking your heart? That is NOT the way."
Fangirl: Once you said at a convention, "I feel almost like a rock star." So how did you feel last night?
Lucy said it felt great.... talked about the differences between types of numbers, that her husband said she didn't need the tricks or characters, and should be more of a singer and less of an actress (while onstage).
More discussion of the sound mix problems at the show the night before.
Fangirl: Saw LL in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," and saw her in Duets. She said she was great last night, voice was on, relating to the audience, enjoying herself. Thanked her.
Lucy gave her fans more love.
Fangirl: Battlestar Galatica is practially a perfect show...
Lucy: "Thank you. I AM responsible for that."
Fangirl: How much input did you have on your character?
Lucy: "They will suck the life out of your imagination and your history and any thoughts you have about what motivates your character. They won't use all of it, but... they will ask questions, put up some kind of brain probe and suck your brains out. There was a lot of input I could have in the beginning, then they put it together in their own crazy fashion."
Fangirl: "Whose idea was the threesome?"
Lucy: "Just another day at the office. Another day, another threesome."
Fangirl asked about what she really thought about Marie Osmond on Duets.
Lucy: She was the most contructive at first, but then became very bitchy towards the end. Lucy said that the show really catapulted her and her singing career.
Lucy also seems to have a cold. All the cool people have colds.
Lucy recognized the next fangirl as having been in the front row the night before. She said Michael Hurst said the foks at the Roxie said they'd never seen a fan reaction like the one Lucy got, not even when Springsteen was there. Lucy glowed.
Fangirl asked what songs Lucy wanted to perform.
Lucy said yes... but couldn't think of any. Asked fans to make suggestions to her.
Fangirl: Your spirit has affected me, and wondered if there are others in her life who have been affected the same way.
Lucy said she didn't know how to answer that. She was very modest. Said she tries to make sure her kids have everything they need. Said her number one duty is to her children. "If you all get something great out of what I do, I just thank you. It's YOU who make it meaningful. I don't know how this happens. It's just synergy, isn't it?"
Fangirl: Was there someone in history you'd have liked to have gone up against, or a historical situation?
Lucy said yes, but she coudn't think... "You're asking me for a list again!" She was adorable in her confusion. But she finally said probably not, they gave her plenty.
Lucy said she would love to do "The Chain" and "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac.
Fangirl shyly asked for a hug. Lucy gave it to her. And a kiss. Awwwww.
Then Lucy said, "Don't try that again" to the audience. But it was clearly very sweet.
Fangirl at her first convention: Thanked her for work Lucy has done to help people in New Orleans.
Lucy said it was her honor.
Fangirl: "I can die now."
Lucy: "Please don't."
Fangirl was breathless. "This is a Xena convention so I'm going to ask a Xena question. The final episode is very hard for me to watch, emotionally. How did everyone react when you did your bowing out scene?"
Lucy: "That took so long to film. We were doing 80 hour weeks like we did in the beginning, for the intervening 5 and a half years, we never did weeks that long. I was so exhausted and emotionally spent.... people for the first time ever were getting kind of terse... we just had nothing left to give.... I think by the end, I was a little out of my mind. I know I was, becase that cute little girl Michelle who played Akemi.... I'm talking about no, how we should fix this scene... I was talking complete bonker, and she's looking at me like.... and Rob is going, there, there mad woman.... somebody get the straightjacket.... it really was not acting, underneath that makeup I looked exactly like that. When I reach a state of exhaustion like that, I flame out in a really big way.... Sometimes I'm pushed right to the brink of my sanity. If it was hard for you to watch, it was hard to film."
Then the fangirl said Lucy did Melissa Etheridge proud last night, and then Lucy hugged her.
Young fangirl said she saw Lucy in Grease on Broadway.... Lucy asked, "Were you two?"
Fangirl, "No, I was 14."
Lucy: "I hate you."
Lucy said she'd love to perform on stage again, but seems interested in whatever comes, singing, acting, TV, stage.... everything.
Fangirl named Charlene had a chakram tattoo, and had Lucy autograph
it at the Roxie, and then had the autograph tattoed DURING THE SHOW and
Lucy saw it by the end of the show.
Next fangirl also got a hug.
Now Renee is coming out. Back in a minute.

AWESOME!

Actually, she did say that. I remember it specifically. However, it was said in a very joking manner, and certainly not serious.

Yeah, Travis is right. She said it, but it was absolutely a joke.
