I'm a journalist covering serious animal issues including food safety, animal sheltering, the no-kill movement, animal legislation and regulation, and veterinary medicine across a number of traditional and new media platforms.
My current and past professional work includes San Francisco Chronicle/SFGate.com pet columnist; a contributing editor to Pet Connection, a nationally syndicated pet feature; social media manager for Dr. Marty Becker, resident veterinarian on "Good Morning America" and "The Dr. Oz Show"; communications and social media consultant to Maddie's Fund and The Ad Council's Shelter Pet Project public service campaign, and a frequent contributing writer for MTV/Logo's AfterEllen.com/AfterElton.com websites; editing a regional monthly magazine in the San Francisco Bay Area; directing America Online's Pet Care Forum; directing the Veterinary Information Network's pet owner website; serving as founding editor of VeterinaryPartner.com; contributing editor to The Bark magazine.
A native San Franciscan, right now I live in Southeastern Michigan with my dogs Rawley, a Scottish Deerhound, and Val and Stella, Greyhounds.
Although I no longer breed or show, I still actively maintain the oldest Scottish Deerhound site on the web at CaberFeidh.com.
I'm a member of the Scottish Deerhound Club of America, and served two terms on its Board of Directors. I am a member of the Dog Writers Association of America, the Society of Professional Journalists, and Democracy for America.
